The majority of people will experience sexual intercourse at some point in their life, and the transition from abstinence to a sexual relationship can be difficult if they are not prepared. Even when adolescents engage in virgin pledge programs where they promise to abstain from any sexual activity, they often eventually choose to forgo that vow. In those cases they need to have a working knowledge of how to prevent and deal with the spread of STI’s and unwanted pregnancies.
